Playing Catch Up

Well you start a blog and then you get so busy you forget to update it. This is still a new venture for us, so here's a promise that we will start trying to update more regularly. A Portland update- we are in the midst of settling on an apartment. We are so excited because it is located downtown and within walking distance of great restaurants, shopping (tax free I might add) and has a shuttle to my school across the street. We are going to visit next Thursday (May 28th) and we cannot wait. What if we secretly packed up and just stayed?! : )

The packing process has begun as well. I have been a wheeling and dealing saleswoman selling off our possessions to co-workers and family. It's been a fun process to bargain with people and some have even said perhaps I should go into sales-ha! I think that we are down to fitting everything in a small trailer to pull behind the Jeep and then off into the west we go!

Trying to make time for everyone before we go, spending every weekend until we leave with friends and family. Yesterday my sweet mom took me to get a manicure and a pedicure and we ate dinner at Cafe Bossa Nova (a personal fav). We have Riverfest this weekend, my birthday next weekend, Tour de Rock the following weekend, and then Rosemary Beach for a week. We are so ready for a vacation...relaxing with a glass of wine listening to the waves sounds like a perfect ending to my year at UAMS and Dustin's year of school, teaching, job hunting and the like!

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!

Jam Packed Weekend

Whew, what a busy weekend!  Thursday evening we attended our niece Briley's kindergarten graduation.  We started the evening eating tacos at Jessica's and finished the night watching Bri and her classmates put on a precious and hilarious program.

Friday afternoon we helped Robert move into his new house.  Murphy the talking cat got to ride with us to the new place, and kept us entertained with his meows.  The house really came together, and we celebrated the new move and Shannon's 30th birthday with a cookout at the new place on Saturday evening.  With the wine and snacks flowing, we finished the evening belting out happy birthday to the blushing "26" year old.  : )

We finished the weekend with a pancake breakfast to celebrate Mother's Day.  Wayne and I manned the pancake making station, and the vegan pancakes and sausage were delicious!  We ate good food and drank "my-mosas" as mom likes to call them to celebrate the holiday.

Today was Shannon's actual birthday, so we lit 30 candles and once again sang.  We then headed over to Jeannie's, where Ma and Paw had many questions about Portland.  The weekend ended with delicious peanut butter pie in front of Family Guy, and one week down until our move!!

Let's get this thing started

So, if you can't tell, blogging is a new venture for Dust and I.  Pardon the lack of pictures, snazzy colors, and awesome links.  They will come in due time...we promise.  Just wanted a way to keep everyone (who may care) up-to-date on our moving process and keep you in the know once we are settled.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the story, we are moving to Portland, Oregon on June 29th.  I was accepted in the Oregon Health Science University dietetic internship (still reeling) and I begin September 8th.  Dustin is in the fun process of job searching (keep him in your prayers) and I am in the fun process of searching for great vegan eateries!  On our first date we both revealed that we wanted to end up in Portland, so this is a welcomed opportunity for us.

We are planning a trip May 28-31 to hunt for an apartment, so wish us luck!  I'm excited to get this ball rolling.
